'Metamorphosis' was made as a response to The Quilter's Guild challenge to make a quilt that measures 1 metre square on the theme 'Connected'. The quilts were shown as part of the Festival of Quilts exhibition at the NEC in August 2003. The quilt won President's Choice.

There is never a clearly defined stop/start between any of my series of work. Themes, inspiration and techniques flow into each other much more organically. I was this 'connection' between sets of work that I wanted to make more apparent. 'Metamorphosis' is two quilts in one. The four vertical flaps alter the composition of the quilt. Buttoned to the right the quilt is entirely about hedges, buttoned to the left, poppy sead heads appear, a motif that recurs in my work.
